The Second World Congress on Marxism Held

The Second World Congress on Marxism was Held at Peking University on the 5th. The congress was sponsored by Peking University and undertaken by the Marxism College of Peking University and the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era Research Institute of Peking University. The congress was attended by over 100 international scholars from five continents of the world and over 700 domestic scholars.  

The theme of the congress was “Marxism and Community with a Shared Future for Mankind”. At the two-day congress, the attending scholars would conduct in-depth and extensive discussions on topics of “commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Marx”, “theory and text research of Marxism”, “compilation and research of Reserved Works of Marx”, “Marxism and human civilization and progress”, “Marxism and contemporary global cooperation and governance”, “40 years of reform and opening up in China and Chinese path, Chinese theory, Chinese system and Chinese culture”, and “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and contemporary Marxism”. The congress arranged four high-end special forums, at which Chinese and foreign famous scholars conducted summit dialogues on topics of “building community with a shared future for mankind”, “China's scheme and the path of developing countries to modernization”, “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the world socialism of the 21st century”, and “world modality of Marxism research”.  

It is known that Peking University is the main front that first spread and studied Marxism in China. In 2015, the first World Congress on Marxism was successfully held at Peking University, starting a new stage of global cooperation in Marxism research.
