Chinese President Xi Jinping had discussion with the Chinese and foreign entrepreneur representatives attending Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018 in Hainan Province on the 11th.

Xi Jinping stressed that we are optimistic about the future of Chinese economy. The orientation determines the path, and the path determines the destiny. Now the general orientation of China is to realize the “two centenary goals”. The path we take is one of socialism with Chinese characteristics and a path adhering to reform and opening up. We are full of confidence in the future. We should fill up the tank, hold the rudder stead, go all out and make extraordinary efforts, to shift the Chinese economy in the new era from high-speed growth to high-quality development, from an expansion in quantity to improvement in quality, and from the criterion of “have-or-have-not” to one of “good-or-bad”. China's reform is only going on, not finished. China will not stop its efforts to expand opening up and reform, nor will it close doors to the outside world. We will make our system more mature and fixed, bring the development and governance to a higher level, and let our people have more sense of gain, happiness and security. We should unswervingly develop an open world economy and make the contribution of China to the development of Asia and the world, and we welcome countries around the world to board the express train of China's economy and share benefits from its reform, opening up and development. China will foster a more relaxed and orderly environment for entrepreneurs at home and abroad to make investment and start business. It is our hope that the entrepreneurs of all countries will make better development amid China's new journey of reform and opening up.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative with the purpose to benefit the mankind with the reform and opening up of China, to realize win-win and shared development. Anything under the Belt and Road Initiative has been operated under sunshine. China seeks no exclusionary blocs and imposes no business deals on others. China was promoting the drawing of a blueprint for the East Asia Economic Community, and advancing the building of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific.

Nine representatives of entrepreneurs spoke at the symposium: Xie Guomin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Charoen Pokphand Group of Thailand, Xu Lirong, Chairman of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, Myron Brilliant, senior vice president of American Chamber of Commerce, Takeshi Uchiyamada, President of Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan, David Cruickshank, global Chairman of American Deloitte, Jason Hsuan, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of TPV Technology of Taiwan Region, Chey Tae Won, Chairman of SK Group, Korea, Wells, Chief Executive Officer of the Prudential PLC of the United Kingdom, and Stephen Schwarzmanthe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Blackstone Group of the United States. They spoke highly of the great achievements obtained in China's reform and opening up and appreciated China's outstanding contribution to world economic growth. They stated that the series of new major measures for expanding reform and opening up declared by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the annual conference are inspiring and encouraging, and have sent active information favoring the globalization process. China’s intensity on opening up and reform is unprecedented and its development brings continuous and sound development prospect for foreign investment. They are willing to grasp the opportunity, actively participate in China's opening up and reform, and jointly build the Belt and Road, so as to achieve better development of the enterprises and jointly promote the Asian and world economy toward prosperity.

More than 70 representatives of Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs participated in the discussion.
