The Fifth Global Think Tank Summit Focused on Global Growth

  The Fifth Global Think Tank Summit was held by China Center for International Economic Exchanges in Beijing on May 15. With “Gathering Wisdoms for Promoting Global Growth” as the theme, this summit aimed at injecting positive energy for global healthy, inclusive and sustainable development. About 300 persons including well-known think tank experts and heads, former world leaders and heads of international organizations at home and abroad attended the summit.

  Chen Yuan, the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) attended the summit and made a speech. A number of distinguished guests including Shaukat Aziz, director of Boao Forum for Asia and former Pakistan Prime Minister, Yukio Hatoyama, President of East Asian Community Research Institute and former Japanese Prime Minister, Jiri Paroubek, former Czech Prime Minister and former President of Social Democratic Party, John L. Thornton, Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brookings Institution, Zhan Xiaoning, Director of Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and Fraser Cameron, Director of EU-Asia Center attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

  More than 100 experts conducted candid and in-depth discussions on “New Trends of Globalization: New Challenges, New Opportunities and New Countermeasures”, “Global Sustainable Development: Problems and Countermeasures”, “The Belt and Road and Synergy between Development Strategies with Related Countries”, “Regional and Global Security: Situations and Prospects” and other topics at 4 parallel round-table conferences.

  Global Think Tank Summit is an important platform created by China Center for International Economic Exchanges for exchange of ideas for global think tanks, which takes place every two years. The first summit was held in 2009.
