A Report Meeting of Social Governance Experts in Contemporary China Takes Place in Beijing

A report meeting of social governance experts in contemporary china, a forum the Chinese Academy of Governance held as a part of its third scientific conference, kicked off in Beijing on November 14, 2016. Experts and scholars at the meeting held in-depth discussions on the overview, features, achieved progress, existing problems of the current social governance, and came up with some constructive countermeasures and recommendations about how to further intensify social governance innovatively.  

The forum came in two halves through morning to afternoon. More than ten experts and scholars delivered keynote speeches based on their own research findings and judgments about how the social governance was going on. They came from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Policy Research Center of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (P.R.C.), Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Technology, Social Development Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Beijing Academy of Social Sciences. According to the attendees, after its 18th National Congress, the CPC central committee led by Chinese President Xi Jinping took the current situation into full account and strove to improve people’s livelihood and social security, and intensify social governance in a comprehensive, innovative manner. So far, its social construction efforts have borne great fruit. In response to the new circumstances and challenges, what China should do is seize the historic opportunities, keep deepening the reform on social systems, promote innovation in social governance vigorously, adjust social structure promptly and lift the modern level of social governance system and capacity.
