Imports and Exports of January and February Grew by 16.7%

Abstract:

According to the customs statistics, in the first two months of this year, the total volume of China’s import and export trade of goods was 4.52 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%. The volume of exports was 2.44 trillion yuan, up by 18%; the volume of imports was 2.08 trillion yuan, up by 15.2%; the trade surplus was 362.2 billion yuan, up by 37.2%. 

In February, the total volume of China’s imports and exports was 2 trillion yuan, up by 17.2%. The volume of exports was 1.11 trillion yuan, up by 36.2%; the volume of imports was 888.16 billion yuan, slightly down by 0.2%; the trade surplus was 224.88 billion yuan, compared to the trade deficit of 72.99 billion yuan in February last year. 

The customs statistics show that in the first two months of this year, general trade grew rapidly and accounted for a higher proportion. The volume of China’s general import and export trade was 2.65 trillion yuan, up by 22%, accounting for 58.7% of China’s total volume of trade, 2.5 percentage points higher than the same period of last year. China’s imports from and exports to main markets such as EU, USA, ASEAN and Japan increased. In the same period, the total volume of China’s imports from and exports to countries along the Belt and Road was 1.26 trillion yuan, up by 21.9%, 5.2 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate.
