The 2018 Beijing Forum on Marxism in Modern China took place at Beijing Normal University on June 7, 2018. As pointed out by attendees at the Forum, Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era represents the adaptation of Marxism to modern China's actual conditions in the 21st century. Xi's Thought marks China has unveiled a new chapter in the following four aspects: upholding and developing Marxism, upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, improving people's wellbeing and rejuvenating Chinese nation, and engaging in bold self-revolution and securing historic achievements. As a thread that connects the past, present and future together, the Thought enables the Chinese people to gain a more thorough understanding of the laws underlying the governance by the Party, socialist construction and development of human society. It allows Marxism to keep up with the times, by updating the theory with distinctive features, connotations and vitality unique to the era. As powerful as truths, the Thought can inspire the Party to bear its original aspiration and mission in mind, and lead the people to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation. In modern China, upholding Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era means practicing and developing Marxism to the letter.
